This school year has been anything but typical for me. I started teaching a curriculum I had never considered before this time last year. I don’t know why I had never considered it, but the change turned out to be very positive for me. I love what I do. Usually by this time of the year, however, I’m looking forward to taking time off. I’m usually one of the ones with a countdown running on the board.
This year is different. I’ve been to several edcamps around the state of Florida. I come away from each of them more energized than I ever thought imaginable. Today I met with two students that attended Edcamp St. Augustine this past weekend. They didn’t have to but had been so excited about our own Edcamp Branford that they (along with a parent) traveled the two hours from their home. Today we reflected over what we all experienced. It was amazing. They are as excited as I am about what we are putting in place in my classroom for next year. They will help me make it happen.
I can’t wait until the summer, not because I’m ready for a break, but because I need the time to prepare for next year. There is so much to do. I don’t want to see a countdown because it is a constant reminder that I am running out of time. I have so many things I still want to accomplish and try out. I know that I won’t get it all in but I’m going to try.
I can’t wait until tomorrow.
This is my second post today. This brings me back on track for the #blogaday challenge. I have been enjoying this challenge. It’s made me think carefully about my reflections.
